Exercising is my passion. It is my stress relief weapon, my happiness booster and my beauty pill that quiets my mind and restores my balance. What adds value to my motivation to exercise regularly and give my all in every workout is my activewear. And choosing one rightly is not always as straightforward as it might seem. But don’t you worry! I have got a cheat sheet for you 😉
Cheat sheet to choosing your active gear
The colors you choose to wear can affect your workout on both a physical and psychological level. It’s important to be aware of how the hues you put on can affect how much light you absorb and your overall temperature during your exercises. If you tend to sweat more than most, black is probably not the best color to wear while you run on a warmer day.
Stay aware of what the mental effects colors can have on you during your workout. Red is said to increase your heart rate and can be a helpful color for high-intensity workouts, while neutral tones are known for increasing a sense of calmness, making them a better fit for more precise fitness such as yoga. Be mindful of the colors you wear as you workout and you might just find you get more out of your fitness routine in the long run.
I, for one, always choose to have something pink as it boots my mood and helps to get all in.
Choose clothes that allow you to be flexible. And the best way to do so is to go for clothing that’s ideal for whatever exercise you plan on doing. For cardio, get shorts; for yoga, get those sexy leggings baby! If it fits you properly and you like how it looks, you’re ready to go.
Go for moisture-wicking apparel because it allows your body to breathe when you break a sweat. Technology in clothing has evolved to the point where you can select fabric that actually pulls sweat away from your body to keep you cool. Avoid 100% cotton if you’re going to be getting really sweaty. Look for synthetic fibers like polypropylene, polyester, Lycra, and spandex. You’ll get what you pay for when it comes to your fabric and brand choice.
