Learning about bees and the amazing job they are doing to sustain life on Earth could be indeed a pretty fun task. Especially if you engage the little ones into making their own honey bee hive at home with some recycling stuff. Let me tell how it all started for us with M.
M’s homework last week was to find out what kind of insects live in our garden. Then she had to map out where each bug was located (to my greatest horror).
Last summer, she was quite impressed by slugs. One day, after picking her up from the nursery with a glass full of these creatures, I got determined to have her dad picking her up for a whole week.
Fortunately, this year her focus is on bees. Speaking of which, here’s our new project with one queen bee, one working bee and a mini bee hive…
All you need for the project are loo rolls (for the hive and the flower), a piece of cardboard (for the base), a box of eggs (for the queen bee), dyes and imagination <3
